This project involved the removal of all the terra cotta on the facade of the building and its replacement with a new thin shell replacement material.
- Structural Survey of entire facade using scaffolding and mobile work platforms.
- Both non-destructive and destructive tests performed as part of the work. The non-destructive tests included testing with strain gages to determine the coefficients of expansion of the various materials.
- Structural design of repairs to the existing deteriorated members and for the new members, to support the masonry that the load bearing terra cotta had been supporting.
- Structural design of the main support system connected to the new Thin Shell Replacement Units.
