In Queens, NY this is the first building constructed to sustainable or “green” standards under the New York City Capital Construction Program. The 13,880 sf structure was built to replace an existing facility, and designed with technology in energy and resource conservation.

The structure was designed to maximize “daylighting” which when integrated with conventional lighting, will offset the electrical costs of building operation, and conserve energy.

High performance features include: long span steel trusses at the roof monitors to compliment the natural daylighting system, use of lightweight roof framing system to minimize embodied energy, and use of local materials during construction, saving on transportation costs.
